Cerner Recognized by KLAS as an Industry Leader in CPOE and Clinical-Application Hosting

Cerner Delivers Highest Value Proposition for CPOE; Earns Top

Marks in Availability and Uptime for Clinical-Application Hosting

KANSAS CITY, Mo.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--March 6, 2008--For the fourth consecutive year, KLAS reported that Cerner received the highest overall value proposition scores from clients who use its Computerized Physician Order Entry (CPOE) solution. The KLAS CPOE Digest 2008 also reported that the Cerner CPOE solution, based on the unified Cerner Millennium(R) architecture, is leading the market this year in new hospital growth and combined inpatient and ambulatory implementations. In addition, in the KLAS Application Hosting Study 2008, the Cerner Remote Hosting Option (RHO) received the highest scores among those hosting clinical applications, citing high marks in system availability and uptime.

"Cerner continues to be a leader in inpatient CPOE," said Kent Gale, KLAS president, citing the findings of the KLAS CPOE Digest 2008. "Millennium is the first product to reach 100 hospitals doing CPOE, with 26 new hospitals going live with CPOE this past year - the most for any product in this study."

Cerner Millennium CPOE: The highest value proposition

KLAS evaluates the strength of a vendor's CPOE offering by considering the following factors: physician buy-in, depth of use, patient safety, alerts and reminders, and solution type. Cerner received the highest value proposition score for CPOE, which is determined by measuring physician buy-in, depth of use and patient safety.

As determined by KLAS methodologies, Cerner is a market leader in CPOE implementations, with the most live inpatient CPOE clients. Cerner is the first healthcare information technology (HIT) supplier to surpass the milestone of 100 clients live on CPOE. The KLAS CPOE Digest 2008 also reported that Cerner has the most hospitals with "deep" physician usage, which is classified as an adoption rate of 86 to 100 percent. Cerner also was scored this year as a market leader for CPOE in new hospital CPOE growth, and community hospital physician adoption. Making inroads into the ambulatory CPOE market, Cerner currently has the most sites among HIT providers doing both inpatient and ambulatory implementations.

"Cerner's strong showing in the KLAS CPOE and Application Hosting reports calls to light the success of our efforts to work together with our clients to deliver innovative, knowledge-driving solutions that streamline healthcare operations," said Trace Devanny, Cerner president.

Cerner Remote Hosting Option: The clinical leader in availability and uptime

Cerner is also a market leader for HIT vendors in KLAS' recent review of application hosting providers in the 2008 Application Hosting report, receiving the highest ranking of any clinical-application hosting provider. After surveying Cerner RHO clients, KLAS found that:

-- 100 percent of Cerner RHO clients would recommend Cerner RHO
        to a friend or peer

-- 95 percent of Cerner RHO clients would buy the solution again

-- 93 percent of clients reported more value for their money
        after utilizing Cerner RHO

"Cerner has placed a strong focus on their application hosting services and it seems to be paying off," said Gale, citing the KLAS Application Hosting Study 2008. "Cerner proactively monitors their hosted systems and applies fixes across the board when problems are identified and resolved. They are also one of the best vendors when it comes to system uptime/availability."

The KLAS application hosting rankings were determined by client responses to whether the client would renew its contract with the vendor, the level of service received from the vendor and whether the client believed it was getting more or less for its money.

Cerner also received accolades in the report from providers about its Lights On Network(TM) solution, which gives clients transparency to system performance and access to proactive monitoring capabilities. Cerner has nearly 300 clients connected to the Lights On Network.
